Hi all...I live in Broken Arrow, OK.  I love to cook and share recipes.  While I live in OK now I'm originally from Alaska so my Okie recipes all come out with a little Alaskan flair.  lol  Win Q

Welcome to all and thank you, I really appreciate all the response to this site.    A warm welcome to any one who wants to join.   I do feel better I passed out on the couch again last night trying to get caught up on answering messages.   I woke up at 2:00 AM cause my feet got cold and were hurting.  LOL  I don't know why I took my socks off unless I was going to take a shower.     I turned off the computer and got in bed.   I think I may lose my voice if so Mike will probably celebrate.   I did get another recipe posted and I cancled every thing coming to my regular email.  from MB.   I think that is why  I never feel like I can catch up.   It is overwhelming the same thing for both places.   LOL   I have been missing everyone and decided yesterday that I was better because I didn't need a breathing treatment.   Well I am going out for dinner tonight and Mike won't take me unless I get out of my PJ's My sister came over for a cup of coffee and stayed all afternoon. and as soon as she left her daughter came.     Later take care and thanks for the prayers as you know I need all the help I can get in that department......Love Alice

Hi Alice,  I am a Calif. gal too.    One day I was discribing the kind of Breakfasts that we have when my boss over heard me.  She stopped and asked if I was from Oklahoma.  I said "No, but my father is".  In other words we ate wonderfully, as in the way  he was brought up.  He was a good cook too.

Here are a couple.  I've tried the Fish pickles and they are good.  The other recipe was given to me but looks great

Fish Pickles

1 gallon chopped chunky green tomatoes

1/2 c pickling salt

2 c chopped sweet green peppers-10 large

10 large yellow onions

2 c finley chopped jalepenos

5 c sugar

1 qt white vinegar

Pour salt over tomatoes and let stand 3-4 hours.  Drain and squeeze juices.  Bring to boil vinegar, add sugar and vegetables.  Bring to a full boil, stirring.  Fill sterile jars to 1/2" from top.  Process as usual.  Yield:  12 pts.

Green Tomato Relish

Grind 6 large onions, 6 bell peppers(1 or 2 red) same amount of green tomatoes after ground.

Pour boiling water over this.  let cool, drain-then squeeze water out.  Add 2 c vinegar, 2 c sugar and 1/4 c salt, 1 T celery seed and 2 T mustard seed bring to a boil and can.  Use as much vinegar and sugar as you need in equal portions use a little salt.  You can save vinegar mixture-add to it to make more-add celery and mustard seed.

"I use as much tomoatoes as peppers & onions together after ground-don't have to be exact. "  Use some red bells for color.
