½ cup sugar
11 cups sifted flour

FILLING MIXTURE

½ pound of hot melted butter or oleo
¾ cups scalded milk

I am a first generation Slovenian, and it is a holiday food that I have grown up with. The proper spelling is Potica ( po-tee-sa), and have to give credit to the Slovenes for this wonderful recipe!

My husband's Grammie (Her name was Mary too.) made what sounds exactly like this, minus the chocolate!  She was Croatian, spoke the language well even.  (And swore at us in it when we'd bug her in her kitchen because we were hungry, lol)  We called her version Nut Nut Bread, because it was SO full of nuts, lol.  Great post, thanks kck.  :o)

Can't wait to make this. Thanks for telling what it is Jules. Love these recipes, but like to know what the English version means.

I believe this is a traditional Croatian Walnut Bread.  It sounds great with pecans also. YUM!!
