Thick and hearty beer bread great for dipping with soups, stews and sauces

 

Servings:         12

Prep time:       15 minutes

Cook time:      60 minutes

Total time:       1 hour 15 minutes

 

Ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
12 oz bottle lager or stout beer
2 Tablespoons butter, melted

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare loaf pan for baking.

In a large bowl, combine flours, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and garlic powder. Whisk to combine well.

Add cheese and whisk to continue.

Slowly add beer to dry ingredients and stir lightly until combined.

Knead dough lightly until it just comes together.

Place in prepared loaf pan and pour melted butter over top.

Bake for 55-60 minutes.

You definitely gave me a recipe I'll love and use this weekend !  Being in Wisconsin anything with cheese is a real winner. . .Super Bowl or not the Packers fans Tailgating Meals at home or at the parking lots. . .are the best. . .  maybe someone in Florida will be making this to take to the game party. . . . Go Packers!  and all the SnowBird Fans. . . Toni
