Good!!!

 

Servings:         1 9 inch cornbread

Prep time:       10 minutes

Cook time:      20 minutes

Total time:       30 minutes

 

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg

 

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 400 grease 9 inch cast iron skillet (if you don't have one I highly recomend that you get one, they are great)

In large bowl combine corneal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add buttermilk, oil and egg, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Spoon into prepared skillet; bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Cornbread goes with everything here in the south.  Great recipe.  Thank you for sharing.

Thank you...perfect size for my skillet.  Sometimes I add a 4-oz can of chiles (drained, diced) and shredded cheese.  They do that in Texas.  Thanks for sharing this recipe.
