Prep time:       20 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup sour cream
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup grated hot pepper Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup store-bought bean dip
1/2 cup chunky salsa (mild or medium)
1 cup store-bought guacamole
1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
Tortilla chips for serving

Directions:

Cooking Instructions Substitution(s)
* In place of bean dip, you can substitute canned refried beans. Both are usually in the ethnic food aisle of the supermarket.
* Canned olives are fine for this recipe, but be sure they are pitted.

Make-Ahead
1. In a medium bowl, stir together the sour cream, cream cheese, and grated Monterey Jack cheese.
2. With a table knife or a narrow spatula, spread out the cheese mixture onto a pretty 10-inch plate. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
3. Spread the bean dip over the cheese mixture, being careful not to stir it into the cheese mixture. There should be a thin layer of cheese mixture showing.
4. Spread the salsa over the bean dip, leaving about half an inch of bean dip visible.
5. Carefully spread the guacamole onto the salsa, leaving a ring of salsa visible. Sprinkle the olives over the guacamole. Cover loosely and refrigerate until serving time.

    Q. Just joined and, already, love this site! I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who would be interested in a group for singles, like myself. After a lifetime of cooking in large "family" quantities; I found myself really challenged after becoming widowed. I've learned a few tricks about buying, storing, and cooking food for one and would like to hear from others on the subject.
